This is the front cover of a well known music magazine called Mixmag. The first thing you notice when looking at the front cover is the main artwork, which is a face on edited photograph of a young fashionable man in his mid 20s/30s, he seems to be staring at you ( the reader ) this attracts the eye of the target audience. The colours used around the main image and the other colours with the font gives the reader the impression that the type of genre this magazine is, is house music. The second thing that stands out rather a lot is the title also known as the masthead, it has been placed on a grey background and the masthead is white making it stand out.
The main article also known as the lead article in the magazine is ‘The Amsterdam Dance Event’ we know this because there is a big bold yellow banner going through the main image, this makes it stand out and makes it eye catching. This Also may persuade people who take interest in dance events buy this issue specially. As well as the main article there are cover articles around the main image too that are spread out within the space around the artwork, these are also made rather bold but are shown in a smaller font size than the main article this tells the reader what other stories can be found inside the magazine.

Once again the main feature that stands out on this page is the artwork. The artwork located on the contents page is very different to the artwork on the front page, the image on the contents page looks like a pool party which gives the reader the impression that the main focus of this months issue is Parties. If we examine the image more you can see the image is mostly filled with young attractive females. As you can also see once again the magazine title or mast head as referred to earlier is also displayed at the top left of the page.
Now let’s talk about the actual layout of the contents page. As you can see the image is located on the right which attracts the human eye and the text is mainly located on the right and below the image. However the writers of this magazine have used white on black which is a key feature of media and once again makes the white text stand out on the black background. Also although the colour scheme is very different to the front page, the contents page still uses a lot of yellow which is featured on the front cover.


DPS

This is a double page spread also known as DPS, this is one of the very few that are in this magazine. First off we can see the colour scheme relates to the contents page, it’s dark with bright colours such as yellow dipped around each article to once again attract the eye. On this page there is 3 articles each spread out within the dps this makes it easy to identify where each article begins. Once again the artwork stands out, medium close ups of young people clubbing which relates to the article.

Q

This is a unique magazine compared to the others that i have analysed due to the fact that there is no cover lines on the front page, just one main image of a famous person ( Cheryl Cole )and the masthead, Cheryl Cole rocks story at the bottom and then at the top ' The Uks Biggest magazine '. The masthead its self has been hidden up slightly by the artwork this shows that the intention of the front cover is to lure people, and by using sexual reference, the audience will first see the artwork which will lure then into looking at the magazine and then they will want to know what the magazine is about.
The front cover is also very dull and dark which shows wild, punk-like impression. The only bright colour featured on the magazine is the logo.

Double page spread contents page with lots of images, the colour scheme once again fits with the front cover of red and black which gives it a kind of gothic feel. Lots of images also used and tilted at an angle to draw attention once again, each image has a page number at the bottom this makes the reader want to go straight to the page that the image is on.

DPS

Double page spread, one page completely filled with artwork of cheryl cole which is the main story featured on the front page, image is once again very dark apart from her lipstick which is a red colour which gives the reader the sexual view of cheryl once again appealing to the target audience. The Red lipstick also matches the Huge red C that covers the text on the left page which also relates once again to the colour scheme of the magazine.

Front Cover

The reader can easily interact with the magazine because of the eye contact from the picture of the woman on the front of the magazine.( Medium close up ) The front cover also has pictures of famous people on which helps to grab the attention of the target audience which in this case would be young adultsi believe. I think that the magazine I looks fairly expensive as it has a rather glossy finish and because of the fonts, colour and pictures that have been used in the creation of Kerrang, however only costs £2.60 The music that is displayed on the front page such as green day is uni sex music, both male and female listen to therefore I think that this magazine is aimed at both sex.

Different fonts have been used on the front cover for different articles and stories, which creates a good variety of vision effects for the audience which attracts the eye and the target auidence as it makes it stand out. The Masthead also matches the font and colour with the main article. Colour scheme looks to be black and red.

Dps

Firstly the DPS Is well balanced with text and artwork, well maybe a bit more text than there is artwork however this is a good feature of the dps as it doesn't put the reader off by having too much text, the text is also organised well and is put either side of the main artwork mainly.
This is a interview page where each band member seems to of been interviewed and asked questions, each response that is made by a band member is marked in Red bold text with there name at the start of the response this makes it easily readable.

Entertainment and diverson - Magazines such as FHM, books, tv Such as football, i watch it for entertainment it has no benefit to me.

Survellienace - News, neespapers including news reports and infomation on other people such as celbs, magazines, facebook, More internet sites.

Personal Relationships - Facebooks and blogs as you can see who other people are friends with and other infomation about friendships involved within other groups of people.
